Circle City Scan of the City of Amsterdam is a study to examine the potential of a circular economy in the region.

Problem
Amsterdam could become one of the world’s first circular cities. Current studies show that the city would not only save on money and valuable materials but also create several hundred of new jobs. To take a first, major step in the transition, the most significant areas to realize a circular economy in the city have to be identified.
Aim
To transform Amsterdam into a circular economy.
Approach
In the study, waste streams are analyzed and identified which streams can be replaced with a circular business model. Also, strategies are developed to implement the found sustainable solutions into the existing economy of the city. Worldwide, the scan is the largest circular economy study yet.
