City-zen: smart grid in Amsterdam Nieuw West is a project where the electrical grid is locally updated with sensor and monitoring devices to create a smart grid.
Key Benefits
Problem
The transition to renewable energies requires an update of the electrical grid's essential component. To accomplish that the operator has to install an efficient, reliable, safe, fast and cost effective smart grid.
Aim
To install a waterproof grid to increase the number of all-electric households, EVs and local solar energy production.

Approach
To install a smart grid, IT components have to be installed on the electrical grid remotely monitoring and control use, production and trade of energy. In the City-zen: smart grid in Amsterdam Nieuw West project, the entire grid and additional 10,000 connected homes form a large smart grid which is managed from a central control room where all gathered information is analyzed in real-time.
