Murmuration aims to prioritize the environmental dimension in every decision by utilizing satellite Earth Observation data on a global scale. This data is merged with other sources such as statistical data, in-situ measurements, and geolocated databases to offer precise and transparent information on the environmental state and tourism pressure at any location on the planet.
With a catalogue of approximately 20 environmental indicators covering 5 crucial environmental themes (air, water, biodiversity, soil, and climate), Murmuration creates environmental monitoring dashboards for decision-makers and local authorities to aid in their decision-making process and improve their consideration of their territories' environmental conditions.
Today, territories are facing a large number of environmental challenges (loss of biodiversity, air pollution, erosion of the coastline...). They have to make decisions to mitigate them but do not necessarily have environmental indicators to make this decision.
Murmuration was created with the aim of introducing the environmental dimension to the management of territories.
Murmuration is deploying the use of satellite Earth Observation data on a global scale and merging this data with other data sources (statistical data, in-situ measurements, geolocated databases, etc.) to provide reliable, transparent, and precise information regarding the environmental state of any point on the globe.
The satellite data we use comes from a European program called Copernicus, which is supported by the European Commission.
Based on these satellite data, we have developed a catalogue of about 20 environmental indicators on 5 key environmental themes: air, water, biodiversity, soil and climate.
From these indicators, Murmuration is providing environmental monitoring dashboards to decision-makers and local authorities in order to facilitate their decision
making process and the consideration of their territories’ environmental state.
